Short answer

Modash vs HypeAuditor, as of October 2026: Modash is the self-serve choice for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube discovery plus a Shopify-centred workflow, with published prices from $199 a month billed annually and a 14-day free trial. HypeAuditor is the deeper audit tool, covering five platforms with a 1–100 Audience Quality Score built from 15 metrics, but it sells through demos; its own comparison page lists Basic at $299 a month. Pick Modash for sourcing and gifting at scale, HypeAuditor for fraud checks and audience analysis.

Key takeaways
  • Modash publishes prices: Essentials $299 monthly or $199 a month billed annually; HypeAuditor's pricing page shows only a demo form.
  • HypeAuditor covers five platforms and scores audience quality on 15 metrics; Modash's fake-follower check is Instagram-only.
  • Modash claims the bigger database (380M+ vs 227.3M+), but HypeAuditor states the faster refresh (weekly vs within two weeks).
  • Modash is stronger after the shortlist for Shopify brands: CRM, inbox sync, gifting, affiliates and payouts in one plan.
  • Upfluence is a third, sales-led option with a 12-month minimum contract; Kolect is the low-cost option for search and vetting only.

Modash vs HypeAuditor is the most common head-to-head among self-serve influencer tools, and the vendors' own comparison pages disagree on almost every number. This page compares the two (and, briefly, Upfluence) using only each vendor's own pages, checked on 16 October 2026: prices, database claims against refresh rates, fraud checks by platform, and the workflow after the shortlist. Modash vs HypeAuditor at a glance

Modash is a self-serve discovery and Shopify workflow tool for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube; HypeAuditor is an analytics-first suite for five platforms that sells through demos. As of October 2026:

Pricing: what each plan costs

Modash publishes every plan price; HypeAuditor's pricing page shows only a demo form. That is the most practical difference for a small team that wants to start this week.

PlanMonthly billingAnnual billingMain limits
Modash Essentials$299/mo1$199/mo, $2,388 a year12 team members, 300 opened profiles and 150 email unlocks a month, 100 tracked creators1

HypeAuditor Basic$299/mo, billing period not stated9Not published1 user, 1,000 contact unlocks, 1 active campaign, no lookalikes9

Over a year, Modash Essentials costs $2,388 on annual billing or $3,588 on monthly billing, and HypeAuditor Basic would also come to $3,588 if it is billed monthly at its listed $299 (our arithmetic on the vendors' list prices19). Ask HypeAuditor for the billing period and any annual discount in writing before you compare.

Creator data: database size vs freshness

Both vendors lead with database size, but freshness decides whether the follower and view counts you act on are still true. Modash claims the larger index, 380M+ creators3; HypeAuditor claims 227.3M+ accounts across more platforms8. Both are vendor claims, not audited counts.

On refresh, HypeAuditor states a weekly update, more frequent for high-activity accounts8. Modash says search results are updated within 2 weeks and an unlocked profile refreshes every 2–4 weeks4. For fast-moving TikTok accounts, a week versus two can change which creators clear your view threshold, so check the "last updated" date on any profile before you send an offer.

Fraud and audience-quality checks

This is the clearest difference. HypeAuditor's Audience Quality Score is a 1–100 metric built from 15 metrics in four groups: engagement rate, audience quality, follower and following growth patterns, and comment authenticity11. Modash's help center says its fake-follower detection and audience credibility scores are available for Instagram only, and that TikTok and YouTube profiles do not include this data5.

The platform gap matters because suspicious numbers are not spread evenly. In Kolect's creator database, 15.8% of TikTok accounts with 5,000+ followers had median views per follower below Kolect's size-adjusted warning line, against 11.7% on YouTube and 1.1% on Instagram15. That is a rule-based screen, not a fake-follower percentage, but it points the same way: the platforms where Modash shows no fake-follower score are the ones where red flags were most common. If you buy mostly TikTok or YouTube creators, either use HypeAuditor's audit or add a separate check.

Both tools have AI search and lookalikes, so the differences are in the details:

  • Modash analyses bios, captions and visuals for plain-language search, adds image search ("upload an image and find creators whose visual aesthetic matches it"), finds lookalikes by similar audience or content, and shows followers' age, gender, location and interests3.
  • HypeAuditor offers AI Scout, which builds a shortlist from a campaign description, lookalikes by audience, content, engagement rate and follower behaviour, and 35+ filters including estimated post price, contact-info availability and brand safety8.

If you price deals before outreach, HypeAuditor's estimated-post-price filter saves a step. If your brief is visual (a look, a setting, a product style), Modash's image search is the faster route.

Workflow after the shortlist

Modash is built around a Shopify brand's workflow: one CRM for contacts and history, Gmail or Outlook inbox sync, Shopify gifting with promo codes and links, affiliate attribution with automated payouts, creator payments, and automatic content tracking without creators signing up2. Modash says 2,600+ in-house teams use it2.

HypeAuditor covers relationship management, outreach, campaign management, PayPal payments, ecommerce sales monitoring, competitor analysis and media plans that forecast campaign performance7. The media plans and market analysis suit agencies that pitch campaigns to clients before they run them.

Who should pick Modash

Pick Modash if:

  1. You are a Shopify brand and want discovery, gifting, affiliate codes and payouts in one tool2.
  2. You want to start without a sales call: published prices and a 14-day trial with no card1.
  3. Your fraud risk is mainly on Instagram, where its fake-follower check applies5.
  4. Two to five people will use it, the seat counts on Essentials and Performance1.

Who should pick HypeAuditor

Pick HypeAuditor if:

  1. Audience-quality audits are central, for example before high-fee deals or for client reporting11.
  2. You need X or Twitch alongside Instagram, TikTok and YouTube8.
  3. You want campaign forecasts and competitor analysis in the same tool7.
  4. You are comfortable with a demo-led purchase and will negotiate the plan.

Five questions to answer before you buy

Feature lists are long on both sides; these five questions usually decide the choice faster:

  1. Which platform carries your risk? If you buy mostly TikTok creators, confirm the fraud check covers TikTok: Modash's fake-follower score is Instagram-only5, while HypeAuditor's Audience Quality Score is its core product11.
  2. How many creators will you contact a month? Outreach runs on email, so unlock limits are your ceiling: 150 a month on Modash Essentials and 400 on Performance1, 1,000 contact unlocks on HypeAuditor Basic9.
  3. How will you pay creators? Modash sends payments to creators worldwide and ties affiliate payouts to Shopify2; HypeAuditor pays through PayPal7. Ask both about fees and currencies.
  4. How many people need a seat? Modash Essentials includes 2 team members and Performance 51; HypeAuditor Basic includes 1 user9.
  5. What buying process can you live with? Modash can be bought online and billed monthly1; HypeAuditor starts with a demo10; Upfluence requires a 12-month minimum13.

If you sell through TikTok Shop, note that none of these is TikTok Shop's affiliate tool. Commission-based creator invitations run through Seller Center's Find creators page and target collaborations, with a commission of 1% to 80% of GMV per order and optional free samples14. Third-party tools are for creators outside that program, paid content and cross-platform vetting.

What about Upfluence?

Upfluence is the sales-led, e-commerce-heavy option in this group. Its pricing page publishes no prices, states "our minimum contract is 12 months", and sets up a free trial after an initial call13. It claims a "14M+ creators database" across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitch and Pinterest, integrates with Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce and Amazon on its Scale and Autopilot plans, and includes Upfluence Pay on Autopilot13.

  • Modash vs Upfluence: Modash for monthly, self-serve access and published prices; Upfluence for a store-integrated suite if you can commit to 12 months.
  • HypeAuditor vs Upfluence: HypeAuditor for audience analytics on five platforms; Upfluence for e-commerce operations and creator payments.

Where Kolect fits

Kolect is a narrower and much cheaper option for teams that mainly need to find and vet creators on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube. It searches a database of 300M+ creators from one sentence and refreshes each result's followers and views before showing it16. Plans start at $7.20 a month on monthly billing, with 5 creators visible without an account and 90 credits on sign-up17. Its free fake follower checker covers TikTok, Instagram and YouTube18.

Where it is weaker, plainly: Kolect has no CRM, outreach, Shopify or payment tools in the self-serve product, no audience demographic reports, and its 0–100 authenticity score is a lighter estimate from public signals than HypeAuditor's 15-metric score. Detailed comparisons are on our Modash alternatives and HypeAuditor alternatives pages, and plan details on Kolect pricing.

How to decide in one week

Run both tools on the same real shortlist instead of comparing feature lists:

  1. Pick 10 creators you already know well, across the platforms you buy.
  2. Start Modash's 14-day trial and book HypeAuditor's demo the same day; ask HypeAuditor for a written price and billing period.
  3. Look up all 10 in both: compare follower and view counts with the creators' live profiles and note each profile's last-updated date.
  4. Compare the fraud signals each tool gives on your TikTok and YouTube creators, not only Instagram.
  5. Run one real search from your next brief and count how many usable creators each returns within your email-unlock limits.
  6. Choose on the result, then re-check prices on the vendor's page on the day you sign.

Frequently asked questions

Is Modash better than HypeAuditor?

It depends on the job. Modash is better for self-serve discovery and a Shopify workflow (gifting, affiliate links, payouts) with published prices and a 14-day free trial. HypeAuditor is better for audience-quality audits, covering Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, X and Twitch with a 15-metric Audience Quality Score. If fraud screening on TikTok or YouTube matters, HypeAuditor fits better, because Modash's fake-follower detection covers Instagram only.

How much does HypeAuditor cost?

HypeAuditor's pricing page shows a demo form rather than a price list as of October 2026. Its own Modash comparison page lists the Basic plan at $299 a month, with 1 user, 1,000 creator contact unlocks, 1 active campaign and no lookalike search; the billing period is not stated. Higher plans are quoted after a demo.

How much does Modash cost per month?

As of October 2026, Modash Essentials costs $299 a month billed monthly or $199 a month billed annually ($2,388 a year); Performance costs $599 monthly or $499 a month annually ($5,988 a year); Enterprise starts at $14,700 a year. The API is sold separately, from $10,000 a year.

Does Modash have a free trial?

Yes. Modash offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card, limited to 20 profile views, 6 email unlocks and 10 tracked creators. HypeAuditor instead offers a free start with media plans, campaign management and demo versions of other features.

Is there a free alternative to HypeAuditor?

For basic checks, yes. Free fake-follower checkers, including Kolect's, screen a creator's public numbers on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube without an account. They are lighter than HypeAuditor's 15-metric Audience Quality Score, so use them to shortlist and a full audit tool for high-value deals.

Modash vs Upfluence: which is better?

Modash suits teams that want self-serve access, monthly billing and published prices. Upfluence suits e-commerce teams that want a sales-led suite with Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce and Amazon integrations and creator payments, and can accept custom pricing and a 12-month minimum contract.

HypeAuditor vs Upfluence: what is the difference?

HypeAuditor leads on audience analytics and fraud scoring across five platforms. Upfluence leads on e-commerce workflow: store integrations, Upfluence Pay on its Autopilot plan and Jaice AI campaign tools. Both sell through demos; Upfluence states a 12-month minimum contract.
