How to find influencers in the USA: where to look, rates and rules (2026)

Short answer

To find influencers in the USA, search a creator database filtered to United States creators on TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, then confirm each creator’s audience is American before you pay. In Kolect-managed campaigns from August 2025 to October 2026, US creators agreed a median $500 per collaboration ($300–$900 middle range). US posts must carry a clear FTC disclosure, and from 2026 payments of $2,000 or more to a US creator go on Form 1099-NEC.

Key takeaways
  • Filter by creator country, then check that the audience is American: comments, language and time of posting.
  • US creators agreed a median $500 per collaboration in Kolect-managed campaigns; YouTube $650, TikTok and Instagram $450.
  • Asking prices run far higher than agreed fees: US TikTok creators asked a median $1,500.
  • FTC rules apply to any post likely to reach US consumers; the disclosure goes in the video, not only the caption.
  • From tax year 2026 the 1099-NEC threshold is $2,000, up from $600; collect a W-9 before the first payment.

The United States is the market most brands start with, and the one with the most creators to choose from. That makes finding influencers in the USA less about finding anyone and more about filtering: US-based creators whose audience is also in the US, who still get views, and whose price fits a test budget. This guide covers five ways to search, what US creators actually agree to be paid (from Kolect-managed campaigns), the two US rules that catch foreign brands out, and a worked budget. For other countries, see how to find influencers by location.

Where to find influencers in the USA

Start with a search tool that filters by creator country, then narrow by platform, niche and follower range. The five routes below differ mostly in how much of the filtering you do by hand.

RouteBest forWhat you do by hand
Creator search tool (e.g. Kolect)A shortlist of US creators in any niche in minutesCheck audience fit and send outreach
TikTok One (TikTok’s creator marketplace)Creators already opted in to brand deals on TikTokLimited to TikTok; outreach inside the platform (guide)
Ranked US listsA quick look at who gets views in a niche nowLists cover a few niches; still vet each creator
Hashtag and keyword search in the appsVery specific niches and local creatorsEverything: follower counts, views, contacts
Agency or managed serviceTeams without US hours or an outreach personApprove creators and content

Kolect’s search covers 300M+ creator profiles across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube; you describe the creators you want in a sentence, and every result’s followers and views are refreshed before it is shown5. A country filter set to the United States, a niche and a follower range give a first list; a lookalike search from one creator who already fits usually gives a better second one.

Top TikTok influencers in the USA: rank by views, not followers

Lists of the biggest American TikTok accounts are full of celebrities who rarely take product deals. For a brand, a better ranking is typical views per recent post among creators who are active and pass a fake-follower screen. That is how Kolect’s top TikTok influencers in the United States list works: ranked by median views of recent posts, limited to creators who posted in the last 90 days and passed fake-follower and brand-safety screens, updated weekly4. The US skincare list is the first niche page; for beauty, fashion or tech creators in the USA, run the same filters in a search tool, or use the other methods in how to find TikTok influencers.

How much do influencers in the USA charge?

US creators agreed a median $500 per collaboration in Kolect-managed campaigns from August 2025 to October 2026, with the middle half between $300 and $9001. That is a fee for one creator in one campaign, most often a single post with paid-usage rights. By platform:

US creators, by platformAgreed fee, median (P25–P75)$ per 1K followers$ per 1K average views, medianCreator asking price, median
TikTok$450 ($250–$700)$4.15$43.38$1,500
Instagram$450 ($300–$800)$7.21$17.83$1,200
YouTube$650 ($350–$1,200)$7.06$45.70$1,250
All platforms$500 ($300–$900)$6.40$27.45$1,250

Source: Kolect managed-campaign data, Aug 2025 – Oct 2026; fees are what the creator is paid, in USD1.

Two things to take from the table. First, the median asking price is about two to three and a half times the median agreed fee on every platform1. That is mostly selection, not haggling: the expensive quotes are the ones that never close. Expect high first quotes and keep looking rather than negotiating each one down. Second, cost per 1,000 views is lowest on Instagram for US creators, at a median $17.83 against $43.38 on TikTok1, because US Instagram creators’ reels draw more views relative to their fee in this data.

Compared with other markets in the same data, the US median of $500 sits close to the UK ($600) and Canada ($575) and above Latin America ($400)1. For tiers and other countries, see how much influencers charge in 2026, or estimate a single creator with the influencer rate calculator.

What US creators deliver: views and engagement

A typical US TikTok creator’s videos get views equal to about 11% of their followers, against about 25% on Instagram and 15% on YouTube (medians of 11.34%, 24.77% and 15.00% in Kolect’s creator database)2. Engagement per view is a median 8.57% on US TikTok and 3.31% on US Instagram2.

Use these as the “normal” line when you vet. A US TikTok creator with 200K followers whose videos average 2K views is at 1%, far below the median, and worth a closer look with the fake follower checker before you pay; the fake-follower guide walks through the manual check. Across all markets, delivered sponsored posts in Kolect-managed campaigns drew a median 52,903 first-month views on TikTok and 25,281 on Instagram, at a realized cost of $6.73 and $17.96 per 1,000 views3.

How to find micro influencers in the USA

Micro influencers are a common place to start a US test, because fees are lower and you can spread a budget across more creators. In Kolect’s data the micro tier is 10K–100K followers1. A process that works:

  1. Filter. United States, your platform, the micro follower range, your niche, posted in the last month.
  2. Sort by views, not followers. A smaller creator whose videos regularly reach most of their followers is worth more than a bigger one whose views are a small fraction of their follower count.
  3. Expand with lookalikes. Take your two best matches and search for similar creators; this finds people who don’t use your keywords in their bio.
  4. Check the audience is American. Read comments on three recent videos: language, slang, US places and prices. A creator living in the US with a mostly non-US audience is a common miss.
  5. Collect contacts. Many micro creators list a business email in their bio; Kolect returns public contact emails for search results at no extra cost6.

US rules that catch foreign brands out

Two rules matter most when you pay US creators: FTC disclosure and US tax forms.

FTC disclosure. US law applies when it is reasonably foreseeable that a post will affect US consumers, even if the influencer posts from abroad7. The creator must disclose any financial, employment, personal or family relationship with the brand, including free products; the disclosure must be hard to miss, placed with the endorsement, and in a video it goes in the video itself, ideally in both audio and on screen7. “Ad”, “advertisement” and “sponsored” work; “sp”, “spon”, “collab” and “ambassador” don’t7. Put this in the brief and the contract. Full detail: FTC influencer disclosure guidelines.

Form 1099-NEC and W-9. For tax years beginning after 2025, nonemployee compensation of $2,000 or more goes on Form 1099-NEC, up from $600; the form is due to the creator and the IRS by January 318. Many templates online still say $600. Collect Form W-9 (the creator’s taxpayer ID) before the first payment, because payees who don’t provide a TIN are subject to backup withholding8. Payments to non-US creators use different forms. If your company is not a US business, ask a tax adviser whether and how these filings apply to you.

Budget for the median, expect a spread, and hold some budget back to put paid spend behind the posts that work (Spark Ads on TikTok). Track each creator with a discount code or link so you can compare cost per sale, not only views; the ROI guide shows the formulas.

Platform or agency in the USA?

Choose a self-serve platform when someone on your team can run search, outreach, contracts and payments in US hours; choose an agency or managed service when nobody can. The trade-offs are covered in influencer agency vs platform. Kolect offers both: self-serve creator search from $7.20 a month6, and a managed creator marketing service that runs shortlist, outreach, rates, contracts, delivery and payment while you approve each creator and post.

Frequently asked questions

How do I find influencers in the USA?

Use a creator search tool with a country filter set to the United States, add platform, niche and follower range, and shortlist creators who posted recently. Then open each profile and check the audience is American (English comments from US users, US references in content) before outreach. TikTok One also lets brands filter creators by country.

Who are the top TikTok influencers in the USA?

It depends on the niche and on how you rank them. Follower counts favour celebrities who rarely take small brand deals; ranking by typical views per recent post is more useful for brands. Kolect publishes weekly-updated US TikTok lists ranked by median views of recent posts, filtered for recent activity and fake followers.

How much do US influencers charge?

In Kolect-managed campaigns from August 2025 to October 2026, US creators agreed a median $500 per collaboration, with the middle half between $300 and $900. By platform the median was $450 on TikTok and Instagram and $650 on YouTube. Creators’ first asks are much higher: a median $1,250 across platforms.

How do I find micro influencers in the USA?

Filter US creators to 10K–100K followers in your niche, sort by typical views rather than followers, and use lookalike search from a creator who already fits. Micro creators answer email more often than they work through managers, so a public contact email in the bio is usually enough to start.

Do I need to send a 1099 to an influencer?

If your business must file US information returns and pays a US creator $2,000 or more in nonemployee compensation in a year, file Form 1099-NEC by January 31. The threshold rose from $600 for tax years beginning after 2025. Collect Form W-9 with the creator’s taxpayer ID before paying, and ask a tax adviser how this applies to a non-US company.

Do foreign brands have to follow FTC rules in the USA?

Yes, when the post reaches US consumers. The FTC says US law applies if it is reasonably foreseeable that a post will affect US consumers, even if the influencer posts from abroad. The creator must disclose the brand relationship clearly, in the post and inside the video itself.

Should I use a US influencer marketing agency or a platform?

Use a self-serve platform if you have someone to run search, outreach, contracts and payments, which costs software and time. Use an agency or managed service if you lack that person or US working hours; you pay a service fee on top of creator fees but get the process run for you.
