Finding influencers with AI works when the assistant can see real creator data. Ask a general chatbot for “TikTok influencers for my brand” and it will name accounts it read about somewhere, with follower counts that may be a year old. Connect the same assistant to a creator database and it can run a live influencer search, check each profile and hand you a vetted list. This guide covers what changes when you do that, how to set it up in Claude, Codex and other assistants, prompts you can copy, what it costs and what to check before you send a single email. For the wider process (briefs, outreach, rates), start with how to find influencers; for manual methods on one platform, see the guides to finding creators on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
Can AI find influencers on its own?
Partly. A general AI assistant is good at the thinking around influencer discovery (which niches overlap with your buyers, which hashtags and keywords those creators use, what to ask in outreach) but on its own it cannot query TikTok, Instagram or YouTube for current numbers. It answers from web pages and its training data, so it can name creators who stopped posting, misquote follower counts or invent a handle that looks plausible.
What fixes this is a connection to a creator database. The open standard for that connection is the Model Context Protocol (MCP): an MCP server is a connector that exposes a service’s tools to an assistant, and Claude, Claude Code and Codex all support adding remote MCP servers456.
| What you ask | Plain chatbot | Assistant connected to a creator database |
|---|---|---|
| “Which niches fit a $30 earbud for students?” | Good: reasons about audience and content | Same, then searches each niche |
| “Find 20 US skincare creators on TikTok” | Names from the web; numbers may be stale | Real profiles with followers and views refreshed before they are shown3 |
| “Are these followers real?” | Can only describe red flags | Runs a fake-follower check on each profile1 |
| “Get their emails” | Guesses or refuses | Returns public contact emails from the database1 |
| “Save the good ones to a list” | A table in the chat | Saves to a collection in your account1 |
What does an AI influencer search tool connected to your assistant do?
It gives the assistant a small set of tools it calls on your behalf. Kolect’s MCP server, for example, exposes five:
search_creators (search by market, niche, follower range and content style, or find creators similar to one you
like), lookup_creators (check profile links or @handles), check_fake_followers, get_emails and
save_creators1. You don’t call them by name: you describe what you need and the assistant picks
the tools, and it asks before a step that would spend many credits1.
The data behind the tools matters more than the chat. Kolect searches a creator database of 300M+ profiles across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, queries live platform data on each search and refreshes every result’s followers and views before showing it3. Each result comes with a match reason, the matching videos and a 0–100 authenticity estimate3. The same account, credits and collections work on the website, in the AI assistant connection and in the Chrome extension.
How to set up AI influencer search in Claude, Codex and other assistants
Setup takes one key and one URL or command. These are the steps for Kolect as of October 2026; other MCP servers follow the same pattern with their own URL1.
- Create a key. Sign in at app.kolect.ai, open “Use in Claude / Codex” and click “Create key”. The key starts
with
kol_and is shown once; you can set a daily credit limit per key1. - Connect your assistant (one key per assistant, so you can revoke each separately):
| Assistant | Where | What to add |
|---|---|---|
| Claude (web and desktop) | Customize (or Settings) → Connectors → Add custom connector | Name “Kolect”, URL https://app.kolect.ai/mcp?key=kol_…, then turn it on in a chat14 |
| Claude Code | Terminal | claude mcp add --transport http kolect https://app.kolect.ai/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer kol_…"; run /mcp to see it connected5 |
| Codex | ~/.codex/config.toml | [mcp_servers.kolect] with url = "https://app.kolect.ai/mcp" and bearer_token_env_var = "KOLECT_API_KEY"6 |
| WorkBuddy | Connectors → custom connector | The same remote MCP URL; optionally add the skill file1 |
| OpenClaw | Terminal | openclaw mcp add kolect --url "https://app.kolect.ai/mcp?key=kol_…" --transport streamable-http, or send it the skill link https://app.kolect.ai/cli/SKILL.md1 |
- Ask in plain language. Start with a small search to see the format, then widen it.
One limit worth knowing before you start: on Claude’s Free plan you can add one custom connector4, so if you already use another one there, you will need a paid Claude plan or another assistant. Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise allow more, and on Team and Enterprise an owner adds the connector for the organization first4.
Prompts to find influencers with AI (copy and edit)
Write prompts the way you would brief a colleague: market, platform, follower range, niche, recency and how many you need (narrowing by country or city is covered in how to find influencers by location). The assistant turns that into filters, and you can correct them in the next message.
- Shortlist from a product. “We’re launching $30 Bluetooth earbuds for US college students. Make a TikTok creator shortlist with one line on why each fits.“1
- Tight search. “Find 20 US skincare creators on TikTok with 50K–500K followers who posted in the last month.“1
- Lookalikes. “Find 10 Instagram creators similar to @some.creator.” Paste a creator who already worked well for you; this is often the fastest route to a good list.
- Vet a list you already have. “Check these creators for fake followers:” then paste profile links, one per line.
- Finish the list. “Save the genuine ones to a ‘Spring launch’ collection and put their emails in a table.”
- Budget check. “How many credits do I have left? How many free fake follower checks today?”
Prompts 3 to 6 come from Kolect’s own examples1. Two habits make results better: name what you don’t want (“no creators whose last five posts are sponsored”, “no meme pages”), and ask the assistant to show its filters before it loads more results.
What does it cost to find influencers with AI?
With Kolect, the assistant spends the same credits as the website: a search shows 2 creators per credit, a search with no results costs nothing, and the same search again within 15 minutes is free1. The connection itself works on every plan, including the free sign-up with 90 credits2.
| Action in the assistant | Kolect cost (October 2026) |
|---|---|
| Search or load more | 1 credit per 2 creators; free if no results1 |
| Same search again within 15 minutes | Free1 |
| Look up creators by link or @handle | Free, with per-call and daily limits by plan1 |
| Fake-follower check | 20 free a day, then 5 credits each1 |
| Emails of creators from search results | Free1 |
| Emails of creators found by link lookup | 5 credits per email found; free if none found1 |
| Check balance, save creators | Free1 |
Worked example. A 20-creator TikTok shortlist costs 10 credits to see; checking all 20 for fake followers fits inside the 20 free daily checks; their emails from the search results are free1. So the 90 sign-up credits cover 180 creators shown, and the Light plan at $7.20 a month (300 credits) covers 6002. If you need more, credit packs start at $24 for 1,000 credits and don’t expire2.
Which AI influencer discovery tools work inside assistants?
As of October 2026, few creator-data vendors publish an MCP server with setup steps. Two that do:
| Kolect | Influencers.club | |
|---|---|---|
| Database claim | 300M+ profiles3 | 340M+ creator profiles7 |
| Platforms for discovery | TikTok, Instagram, YouTube1 | Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Twitch7 |
| Assistants named | Claude, Claude Code, Codex, WorkBuddy, OpenClaw, any MCP client1 | Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Zed, n8n and others7 |
| Free start | 5 creators without an account, 90 credits on sign-up2 | 10 free credits for new accounts7 |
| Paid model | Monthly plans from $7.20 or credit packs2 | Usage-based credits per successful result7 |
Influencers.club is the better pick if you need X or Twitch creators or want to work from ChatGPT or Cursor, since its page names those and Kolect’s doesn’t. Kolect is built for TikTok, Instagram and YouTube with numbers refreshed on each result, fake-follower checks and emails included. For full platforms (outreach, contracts, payments), see the best influencer marketing platforms compared.
How to check an AI-made influencer shortlist before outreach
Treat the assistant’s list as a first cut, not a decision. Authenticity and niche are estimates, and Kolect labels them that way1. Before you contact anyone:
- Views per follower. Compare typical views with follower count. On TikTok, 15.8% of creator accounts in Kolect’s operating creator database fall below the “warn” line of its fake-follower check on this one signal, against 1.1% on Instagram and 11.7% on YouTube8. A low ratio is a reason to look closer, not proof of fake followers. Run the free fake follower checker or read how to identify fake followers.
- Open three recent videos. Check tone, quality and whether your product would sit naturally in them.
- Look at sponsored density. A feed that is mostly ads tends to get less attention per post.
- Check audience fit. Comments in the right language and from the right market matter more than total followers.
- Price it yourself. An assistant has no rate data from Kolect; any fee it quotes is its own estimate1. Use the influencer rate calculator or the 2026 influencer rates for typical fees.
The 6-point creator scorecard turns these checks into a score you can compare across creators, and the outreach email templates cover the next step.
Keep your key safe
An MCP key spends your credits, so treat it like a password. Use one key per assistant, set a daily credit limit on each, and delete a key on the website if it leaks: it stops working immediately1. Creator emails returned to the assistant are shown only to you1. Don’t paste keys into shared prompts, screenshots or public repositories.
Next step
If you already use Claude, Codex or WorkBuddy, connect Kolect and run the first prompt above with your own product; the free sign-up credits cover a first shortlist. If you would rather hand off the whole process, from shortlist to delivered content, the managed creator marketing service does that with you approving every creator and post.
